This story is one that I've heard often and has been an inspiration to me about paranormal activity that is in my area of central northern Massachusetts. This originally occured just a few miles from where I'm living right now and on the same road where my great grandparent's farm used to be.
This happened to my parents when the were dating each other, before they got married and a few years before I came along.
This all happened one summer night back in the mid 1960's, my father was in the service at the time, was 22yrs old and my mom was 20yrs old.
This happened one warm summer night when the two of them decided to go out parking. They drove into a small field off of an old dirt road that was just on the outskirts of the town of New Salem, Massachusetts.
Now the Vietnam war was underway and my dad was on leave that week from the Navy, he was an electrician on a diesel/electric submarine.
He was talking with my mom about his navy job, during his talk she could hear what sounded like soft tapping noises, at first she heard it towards the front of the car then it sounded like it was in the glove box then it moved down through the inner doors and finally into the rear trunk area. (Mom thought that Dad was trying to ignore all these noises.)
He continued talking shop to my mom, then came the story of how the crew was loading the submarine with supplies a week prior, they had bring everything down one of those round hatches and somehow someone accidentally dropped a big frozen bologna down the ladder and it fell onto my dad's bare foot. He suddenly turned to my mom and said "Hey, you wouldn't happen to know how big fireflies get, would you?"
My mom thought "huh, I wonder where did that question come from?"
She answered back " Well, I don't know....sometimes they can look bigger than they actually are? So maybe like the size of a dime or so... why do you ask?"
He then stretched his arms out and said " Well, they don't get this big do they?" Then they both turned towards the back of the car and saw a big, dimly lit, blue orb quickly bouncing from one side of the car to the other side.
My dad then said to my mom, "I bet that it is just a couple of bush wackers trying to scare us, they probably are playing around with a beach ball and a flashlight!"
So then, he got out of the car to see if he could see anyone's face and as soon as he did the orb started to float over the roof after him. He ran back to the car, got in and slammed the door. This orb was quite erratic it would fly way up high into the tree tops and then it would come straight down and would just hover, not very far above the ground. After watching this for a short time, my Dad raced the car out of the woods with the orb following close behind them. It stayed behind the car until the end of the road (were the dirt road ended onto a paved main street,) then it just stopped right there and quite quickly and continuously went left to right, from one side of the dirt road to the other. They watched it until it was out of their sight.
Later on that same night, my dad went back to the same spot with a few of his high school buddies.... they drove up and down the dirt road and into the field, looked around for about an hour and never found anything.
His friends said that it was probably just swamp gas that they saw?

Back in the late summer of 1990 on the upper part of Walnut hill in Orange, my friends and I saw a (candlepin bowling ball sized) yellow one, which floated between us. It made a low pitched hum then it stopped to hover 5ft. off the ground and 3ft. in front of us.
We were probably more scared of it, than it was of us and we ran away before we could see to where it was going or what it was doing there.
It was luminescent, somewhat transparent and had this really strange liquid-like swirl to it. As it floated between us, we noticed that it had a weird kind of pull that threw both my friend and myself off balance as it went by. Well we stuck around for maybe 15 seconds anyway to get a good look at it, before taking off running away as fast as we could in the opposite direction.
